Natural disasters such as wildfires, floods, and severe storms can disrupt every aspect of daily life. During these challenging times, accessing essential medications shouldn’t become another source of stress.
To help support plan members affected by qualifying natural disasters, TELUS Health continues to provide assistance with early prescription refills for eligible individuals covered under participating employee benefits plans.
Early Prescription Refills
If medications have been lost or left behind due to a natural disaster recognized by Public Safety Canada, eligible plan members may be able to refill their prescriptions up to one month after the event.
If a pharmacy receives an “early refill” rejection, pharmacists can use the appropriate intervention code to indicate the medication is being replaced because of a qualifying natural disaster.
This process helps ensure employees can continue receiving important medications while they focus on their safety and recovery.
Why This Matters
Natural disasters often happen with little warning, leaving families to evacuate quickly. Replacing medications can become difficult if prescriptions are left behind or destroyed.
Programs like this provide valuable peace of mind by helping employees maintain access to necessary treatments during emergencies.
Supporting Employees Beyond Everyday Benefits
Employee benefits are designed to provide support not only during routine healthcare needs but also when unexpected events occur.
Whether facing a natural disaster, serious illness, or another life-changing event, having access to responsive benefits can make a meaningful difference for employees and their families.
If your organization participates in the Chambers Plan and you have questions about prescription coverage or other available support services, Norbram is here to help.
